With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew and soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and offering the highest quality ingredients. GIVEBACK THE HUMAN BEAN ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE For the 13th Annual Food Drive, one dollar for every drink sold at all Human Bean locations will be donated to local food banks that support meal programs! On average, it takes $1 to provide three meals for those in need. With most food drives held during the winter months, many food banks run lowest on food supplies during the summer. The Human Bean recognizes this need and believes that everyone deserves a nutritious meal, no matter the time of year. So, each Human Bean drive-thru across the U.S. will choose a local food bank to support with this year’s food drive! Check back here after the drive for an update on how much was raised — each year we have been able to raise more than the last, and we are excited to keep that tradition going on August 26th! COFFEE FOR A CURE Adding a chocolate covered espresso bean to the top of every beverage is a symbol of how The Human Bean operates. We are thankful, so we want to say thank you. We go above and beyond to give back to the people who have kept us in business for more than twenty years. We give each customer a sweet treat with every drink, and we also give back to our communities through quarterly fundraising campaigns and smaller local initiatives. October is by far our biggest collective effort, through Coffee for a Cure. A system-wide day to have direct impact on local organizations providing for the treatment and care of women in our communities who are battling breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer in their lifetime. The impact we have on helping the fighters and families is immeasurable, and we couldn’t do it without you. This year, Coffee for a Cure will take place on Friday, October 21st - Some facts about the event: It is the 17th annual Coffee for a Cure $2.23 M has been raised to date ALL The Human Bean locations participate 100% of all food and beverage sales are donated All funds are donated locally to organizations that you hand select. These funds support patients going through breast cancer with mammograms, post diagnosis care, support, and education EARTH DAY GIVEBACK – TREES FOR THE FUTURE If you love the coffee community like we do, donating your philanthropic dollars to coffee-centered nonprofits is a terrific way to make a meaningful impact! Trees for the Future is a favorite of ours that believes in the power of planting trees to promote sustainable farming and biodiversity. They are training farmers around the world to regenerate and protect their land, and we donate to their reforestation efforts on Earth Day. Visit Trees.org to learn more. On April 22, 2022, we donated to the planting of over 67,000 trees. MOCHAS FOR MEN The Human Bean drive-thrus across the country kick off the summer season and bringing awareness to men’s health issues during the month of June. For the sixth year, The Human Bean hosted its annual Mochas for Men event to raise funds for cancer detection and treatment for men. On Friday, June 17, each Human Bean raised over $20,000 to the local organizations. Those donations are used to fund cancer screening and treatment services for men — a message in line with June’s national Men’s Health Month awareness campaign.
