Humble beginnings
Our story began in late 2010 when our founder, Leigh Kellis, started making donuts from scratch in her kitchen on Portland’s Munjoy Hill. With an affinity for flavorful, wholesome food made with quality ingredients, Leigh felt that Portland lacked a really good donut—so she set out to make one.
The future is delicious
Today, The Holy Donut now has four Maine locations with a fifth coming online in early 2022. We proudly employ more than 150 exceptional people who love what they do. We are looking forward to even more growth in the future and continuing to share the one-of-a-kind donut that started it all.
Giving Back & Community Involvement
It’s true that we love making donuts at the Holy Donut, but we also want to have an impact on our community that goes beyond serving delicious donuts. We want to help others because it seems that this is the true ingredient to creating happiness. We offer a great benefit to our employees, if they lend a helping hand to someone in need, we grant them paid time off hour-for hour! Everyone wins!
End of Day Donations
We have a donation calendar in place where you can sign up to pickup unsold donuts at the end of the day at the shop of your choice. This is a great opportunity for those looking to serve a delicious treat at your next fundraiser! Please visit the link to check availability and sign up. Quantities range from 0-10+ dozen a day & pickups are done at closing time.
