An Unexpected Pairing When Dave Matthews and Sean McKenzie first met, they realized they had a few things in common, like a passion for making wine at least as strong as their passion for drinking it. They set out into wine country, looking for a way to make quality wines accessible to everyone. Along the way, they found inspiration in the down-to earth characters and unforgettable flavors that give the region its rare kind of charm. THE ENVIRONMENT IS IMPORTANT From the day we pick the grapes to the night our wines are enjoyed, we’re making changes that make a difference. SUSTAINABILITY IS GOOD BUSINESS Our winery is a Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing winery, which is part of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance third-party Certification Program — an effort to promote sustainable practices and ensure continual improvement throughout the region. The program is based on best management practices and prerequisites covering environmental practices and socially equitable business practices. SOLAR ENERGY AND GREAT VIBES!!! Winemaking takes a lot of energy, so we set out to find a better way. And what better way than to harness the incredible power of the sun? We're part of a solar initiative that includes 12,700 solar panels spanning four wineries — the largest solar footprint in the U.S. wine industry. Our winery is also reporting greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Carbon Disclosure Project. SUPPORTING THOSE WHO SUPPORT OUR PLANET The Dreaming Tree has proudly donated over $2,000,000 to environmental organizations, including The Wilderness Society, Living Lands & Waters and most recently, The Nature Conservancy.
