Community About the SEG Gives Foundation SEG Gives Foundation is the charitable arm of Southeastern Grocers, Inc. (SEG), parent company of Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores. The SEG Gives Foundation aligns giving with causes that are priorities to the communities SEG serves, including the fight against hunger, support for military service members and their families, relief to those affected by extreme weather and natural disasters and quality educational opportunities for students. Southeastern Grocers strives to be ingrained in its communities and, through the SEG Gives Foundation, better the lives of its customers and neighbors. Fighting Hunger In partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, and its local food bank partners, we are committed to fighting food insecurity in our communities. In 2019, we proudly provided more than 22 million meals to those in need throughout our communities. Military & Veterans In honor of the sacrifices made by military members and their families, we are proud to partner with Folds of Honor to provide educational scholarships to the families of injured or fallen military members. Since 2019, we donated more than $3.7 million, which provided at least 743 educational scholarships to the children and spouses impacted by a loved one’s sacrifice for the United States military. It is our way of showing gratitude for their honorable service. Disaster Relief We have a longstanding partnership, spanning more than 50 years and totaling donations of more than $10 million, with the American Red Cross, a national nonprofit dedicated to preventing and lessening human suffering in the face of emergencies and disasters. In 2019, we donated more than $675,000 to help those impacted by natural disasters. The SEG Gives Foundation is proud to be an official Red Cross Disaster Responder Partner. Education Educational attainment is tied to higher wages, lower unemployment, reduced crime, improved health and increased civic engagement. However, students today face many issues that can impact their ability to learn. The SEG Gives Foundation invests in programs that help our youth overcome these challenges to ensure student success. Investing in education is a Winn Win for our communities, our stores and the Foundation as it makes our communities better. Romay Davis Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity Grant Program At SEG, we are committed to a culture of belonging, and we take pride in being an inclusive environment where we celebrate differences. To help support the communities that we serve and battle the racial prejudice and social inequality in America, the charitable arm of Southeastern Grocers, the SEG Gives Foundation, has launched the Romay Davis Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity Grant Program. This program supports local nonprofit organizations and their work to serve diverse sectors and address racial disparities in health care, food insecurity and education. Organizations throughout the Southeast can apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. All grantees and programs must operate within SEG’s footprint. The grant application period will open in July and grants will be awarded in October. SE Grocers Launches Community Bag with a Giving Tag Program The reusable bag program empowers customers to make a difference in the communities they live and work in while helping the environment. With each purchase of a reusable Community Bag with the Giving Tag, customers can direct a $1 donation to the non-profit of their choice to benefit the work a local charity is doing in their community. The specially designed reusable bags are from recycled materials, and can be found at registers and on the reusable bag rack at all Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores in the Southeast.
