At Seconds™ we are on a mission to to reimagine snacking where all food reaches its highest and best use. We do this by creating a portfolio of delicious & healthy snacks utilizing upcycled veggies.
With 40% of food wasted in America alone, we could no longer sit on the sidelines. 40%?! Hard to believe, right? It's true, 80 billion pounds of food is wasted in America every year. That’s over 200 pounds per person.
How does this happen? A big part (43%) happens at home. Forgetting about something in the back of your fridge, shopping while hungry, or an aversion to leftovers are just a few common habits that lead to wasting food at home. While we cannot rescue food from your fridge, we can work with fine food makers and produce growers to upcycle pulp and peels to make an amazing cracker- Seconds™!
We want to change the way you eat.
We create delicious, sustainable snacks that are better for your body, and kinder to our planet. We do this by giving a second chance to veggies that normally don’t get one.
In the beginning, there were carrots. Beautiful, nutritious carrots delivered by farmers to manufacturers across the country to make juices, sticks, spirals and a number of other carroty snacks. Then the strangest thing happens: these perfectly good and nutritious pulps, peels and other bits are discarded!
That's where we come in. We take this fresh (and neglected!) produce, dehydrate it and mill it into a flour. Then we send it to our bakery to mix with other ingredients (hello delicious flavor!) and bake crisp, savory, and very addictive crackers.
