Building Stronger Communities
Since its founding, Hensel Phelps has been dedicated to corporate and social responsibility. That responsibility extends to each community in which we operate. Many of our projects serve as landmarks for communities. We aim to make a lasting impact that extends beyond brick and mortar. From volunteer work to the support of local organizations and charities to active citizenship, we become part of the communities we serve, working together with our friends and neighbors to enrich the lives of those around us, and make improvements that will remain long after a project is complete. We work closely with organizations like The United Way and The Boys and Girls Clubs of America on a local level, as well as local soup kitchens and shelters. Our community involvement is driven at the employee level. Our teams take it upon themselves to identify areas of need in the community, and work diligently to help the community grow and thrive.
Giving Back To The Community
Hensel Phelps proudly supports the communities in which we live, build and work. This commitment is demonstrated by our various community service projects and small business development programs over the years — creating relationships with neighborhoods and municipalities across the United States.
Participating in food and back-to-school drives, wrapping donated presents for children at the holidays, building homes for the those in need with Habitat for Humanity or Marian Homes, and supporting our nation’s veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project are just a few of the efforts Hensel Phelps employees have engaged in this year. Hensel Phelps also proudly mentors a future generation of builders through the ACE Mentor Program of America.
Additionally, we support workforce development in our local communities. Partnering with local nonprofits and state agencies, Hensel Phelps has conducted pre-apprenticeship programs targeting unemployed workers in underserved communities. In recognition of these efforts, we were awarded the Charles A. Horsky Leadership Award.
Hensel Phelps’ commitment to small businesses results from our strong relationships with small business advocates and communities. Our Supplier Diversity Group identifies opportunity-ready trade partners and supports them in becoming valuable partners in Hensel Phelps’ procurement process. Alongside national agencies, such as the Small Business Association (SBA), Associated Builders and Contractors of America (ABC), Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTAC), Hensel Phelps has connected small businesses to valuable resources. The Hensel Phelps Mentor-Protégé Program, Technical Assistance Program (TAP), HeadStart Bonding Program, and Emerging 10 Small Business Program are just some of the ways our staff provide local, small, minority- and women-owned businesses insight into how to successfully manage and grow their business.
