The CarMax Foundation promotes the causes our associates care about to impact the communities where we live and work. The primary way we invest in local communities is through our Volunteer Team-Builder program. When five or more associates volunteer together with a qualifying nonprofit, the organization may also be eligible to receive a donation from The CarMax Foundation. Participation in these service activities is determined by each CarMax location. In addition to the Volunteer Team-Builder program, we support high-quality programs in the areas of Health & Wellness, Education & Workforce Success, and Resilient Communities through our larger grant program. Organizations providing services in the Richmond, VA area may apply for this funding via our Home Office Grant program in the early fall. We believe that helping others is an important part of being a good neighbor. Through the CarMax Matching Gifts program and our Volunteerism program, The CarMax Foundation helps you, our Associate, make the most of your gifts to nonprofits and volunteer work. CarMax Cares and KABOOM! KABOOM! is a national nonprofit dedicated to uniting with communities to build kid-designed playspaces that can spark joy and foster a sense of belonging for the kids who are often deinied opportunities to thrive. KABOOM! Alumni Grant Program The Alumni Grant program furthers the relationship between The CarMax Foundation and KABOOM! build partners, allowing nonprofits to request funds for playground improvements, maintenance, or needed repairs. Priority will be given to requests for urgent repairs and maintenance. The Alumni partner must have been awarded a KABOOM! playground through The CarMax Foundation partnership. Applications can be submitted throughout the year as needs arise and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
