Bob Kaufman opened his first Bob's Discount Furniture store in Newington, Connecticut on the principle of providing unsurpassed value with honesty and integrity. That's what we call "the Bob's Way", and it guides everything we do to this day. We've built strong customer loyalty by offering a great selection of quality furniture that's comfortable, stylish, durable and affordable. All of our stores feature an "on the house" cafe with gourmet coffee, ice cream, cookies and candy. We put the fun in furniture shopping! Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation Charitable giving and community aid have always been important elements of our company culture here at Bob’s Discount Furniture. Each month, the Charitable Foundation along with Bob’s Outreach provide aid and donations to hundreds of organizations and individuals with over 2.75 million dollars in gift certificates and monetary donations distributed each year to social service agencies, charities, group homes, community fundraisers, children’s charities, schools and community service groups. When Bob Kaufman founded the company in 1991, he knew that making giving back a part of the Bob’s culture was the right thing to do. A staple in each Bob’s Discount Furniture store, the Bob’s Café is more than just free goodies and gourmet coffee, it’s also one of the ways that Bob’s gives back to the community. Each Café participates in Bob’s Café Collections for a Cause, a program in which donations from customers are collected in store, matched 100% by the company, and donated to a different charity each quarter. This program helps support organizations including the Special Olympics, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and Operation Homefront. Bob’s Outreach team and local store managers also try to perform at least one Random Act of Kindness (RAK) each month, driven by requests from the community. Our team is honored to support local organizations and nonprofits with a RAK check.
