2020 Edible New Mexico Local Hero Award
505 FOOD AND BAR FIGHTS
A bracket-style culinary competition! Chefs, bakers, bartenders, and restaurant professionals face off head to-head in a timed, secret ingredient challenge.
Competitors must come up with on-the-spot creations under stress, judges scrutiny, and time limit. The best part...it's ALL for local charities!
THE KITCHEN KIDS INC.
The Kitchen Kids Inc. is a chef-lead cooking class for all-abilities children. Students will learn fun and simple from-scratch recipes that they can apply at home. Talented chefs from all over New Mexico join Chef Mike to teach this valuable life skill, and provide a creative outlet for children to explore new ideas.
Cooking with Atrisco Heritage Academy
Chef Mike is pleased to be the Chef Mentor for the Atrisco Heritage Academy High School Culinary Team. In 2019 Chef Danielle Young lead the team to be awarded second-place overall in state competition. Going into the third year of mentorship, they will be leading two teams to state competition looking for a strong repeat performance.
Competing with Students
The Holman's Foundation for Autism: Dine, Drive, and Donate
With help from students of the Atrisco Heritage and their Instructing Chef Danielle Young, Chef Mike brought home the Judge's Choice Win against stiff competition and award winning chefs by presenting a local harvest plate featuring spice-rubbed tenderloin, Corrales pumpkin butter, Santa Fe greens, and a Chimayo corn hash.
